How to Decide When It’s Best to Say YES or NO

HELLO AGAIN! You may remember in my last post that I spoke of a number of changes going on in the Thriving with Deanna household.  We have since completed the sale of our home and moved into our temporary living situation.  We also broke ground at our new home site and the actual house construction will even start this week (sooo exciting and completely overwhelming at times too).  I won't go into too many details, but this whole process has added so many changes and challenges opportunities that it's taking some major adjusting and adapting.  I honestly feel some days that I'm barely scraping by to keep all the things "balanced" and "flowing."  It actually feels a bit more like some risky juggling at times.  The...

9 Tips for Minimalism & Decluttering

It’s been a few weeks since my last post…I’ve missed you!    Seriously, though, I have been feeling a bit disconnected.  When I welcomed you here last year to my brand new website, I told you there may be times that I would have to prioritize other things (over the blog) in my life.  And, that's been the case recently.  In February, I had the flu, at the same time we were beginning to ready our home to put it on the market for sale.  It took me a full 3 weeks to truly feel like myself again after being sick.  During that time, less than 3 days after our house went on the market for showings, we were under contract. YAY!!!  That meant I immediately...

Choose Love.

My boys are 8 and 10 years old now. I don’t really remember now at what age it was that they first really started arguing. If you’re a parent, have siblings, or have ever cared for children you know that they will come to you often hoping you’ll intervene in their quarrels. I like to empower my children to work it out on their own as much as possible. When you have 2 children, as close in age as mine, who are also homeschooled and together A WHOLE HECK OF A LOT, they have lots of opportunities to practice their skills of working their troubles out! The FREQUENT requests for help in this area as both mom and teacher can get quite tiresome to be...

Could you live without…?

Have you ever found yourself saying, "I couldn't go without _____”; "I couldn't give up _____"; or “There’s no way I could do _____”? Perhaps you fill in the blank with a food or drink, an item, a service, an activity, etc. I go through phases where I become very aware of my own reliance on certain things, such that I feel it would be incredibly hard to live without them. A few weekends ago I had to unplug my refrigerator/freezer to let my freezer thaw. It was a semi-planned event. I have a small chest freezer in my garage so was able to move any freezer items to the extra one. I had also let my fridge run low on items so that we could rather easily store what...

Desire + Learn + Trust + Nourish = VIBRANT LIFE (Part 4)

Desire + Learn + Trust + Nourish = VIBRANT LIFE   Hopefully you've come here to read about the final part of this formula I've created, but if you haven't already read the other 3 posts in this mini-series, please go check those out first: Part 1 (Desire), Part 2 (Learn +Trust), and Part 3 (Nourish).   This formula really does boil the creative process down in a way that seems rather simple, but when we expound upon the individual parts we see how intricate it can get. And I've still only really touched on the surface. I think it’s important to come back to the very basics here, though. If at any point we are feeling lost or overwhelmed, let’s take the 30,000 foot view and connect to...

Desire + Learn + Trust + NOURISH = VIBRANT LIFE (Part 3)

Welcome back to the mini-series on my equation Desire + Learn + Trust + Nourish = VIBRANT LIFE.  This is part 3, so if you haven't already read part 1 where we discussed Desire or part 2 where we talked about Learn + Trust, head there first!   NOURISH. This is where we bring all of our self together – emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual. We’ve touched on most of these pieces in the first 3 areas (Desire + Learn + Trust) of the formula. Now we are going to ensure we unite everything here. No matter what our goals are the only way to actually achieve them is to take action. The first 3 parts of the formula reflect more of the planning stage, but now we...

DESIRE + Learn + Trust + Nourish = VIBRANT LIFE (Part 1)

Desire + Learn + Trust + Nourish = VIBRANT LIFE This is a formula that we will put on repeat like your favorite song! You may have noticed it as my tagline on my homepage. I wanted to tell you where it came from. In my years as a coach and through my own personal health journey, I've learned that these 4 commitments are critical pieces for achieving vibrancy!...
