Go Beyond Food.

I believe I’ve said it here before… I’m a firm believer in Hippocrates’ adage, "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” I also believe what Ann Wigmore had to say, “The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.” That being said, we live in a modern society where we are subjecting ourselves and our foods to incredible amounts of “unnatural” matter (pesticides, chemicals, heavy metals, etc.). I do believe that as careful consumers (both in terms of how we buy and eat) food can still be an incredible tool for healing!!! It certainly has been for me and my clients! I feel, however, that we sometimes get so caught up...

My Story – Part 2

If you haven't read Part 1 of My Story, you'll want to go check out that post first. If you already read part 1, you may remember we left off in 2012 where I was trying to balance more in life than body could handle...

What you may not know about olive oil.

Olive oil has an extremely long history of use, particularly in the Mediterranean where olive trees are plentiful. Olive oil is abundant in monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs), which are generally touted as healthy for the cardiovascular and immune systems. A few other sources of healthy MUFAs include macadamia nuts, avocado, and olives themselves. Extra virgin olive oil (referred to as EVOO from here forward) is also a great source of phenols (plant compounds that can be beneficial to our health, such as antioxidants), other phytonutrients, and the difficult-to-obtain vitamin E. As you likely know, EVOO remains liquid at room temperature and at cooler temperatures, may thicken, but doesn’t solidify the same way saturated fats do. EVOO can be a wonderfully healthy addition to one’s diet...

My Story – Part 1

In 2012 my life took an unexpected turn, which has led to a series of significant personal transformations over the past several years, some of which have been more obvious, visible and immediate, while others have been quieter, deeper, more personal and gradual…. Come along as I share the “short” version of my journey. It would be challenging for me to tell you the story without telling you a little about me before this time, even going all the way back to the young age of four when I would visit the elderly in our community with my grandmother. I grew to love hearing the stories they would tell us, but most of all I saw how simply visiting with them would bring them great...

Desire + Learn + Trust + Nourish = VIBRANT LIFE (Part 4)

Desire + Learn + Trust + Nourish = VIBRANT LIFE   Hopefully you've come here to read about the final part of this formula I've created, but if you haven't already read the other 3 posts in this mini-series, please go check those out first: Part 1 (Desire), Part 2 (Learn +Trust), and Part 3 (Nourish).   This formula really does boil the creative process down in a way that seems rather simple, but when we expound upon the individual parts we see how intricate it can get. And I've still only really touched on the surface. I think it’s important to come back to the very basics here, though. If at any point we are feeling lost or overwhelmed, let’s take the 30,000 foot view and connect to...

Make a List.

Do you ever find yourself eating when you already feel completely satisfied? Or have you ever found yourself rummaging in the fridge or cupboards even when you just recently ate? What about experiencing cravings that lead you to eat even though you’re not hungry?   This could be going on for a number of reasons. One of those could be that you have an overall nutrient-poor or even low-food diet and your body is craving real nutrition! It could also be that you’re thirsty, so grab a large cup of water! However, I often find that my clients do these things when they are really hungry for something other than food.   What might you be hungry for? If you’re feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed you may truly desire...
