My Word for the Year

Last week, I shared with you from my heart and promised to be even more vulnerable with you all this year, as I'm going to do again today.  The week before that, I shared some thoughts on an approach for the new year.  If you missed those posts, go check them out.   One of the suggestions I had for the new year was to choose a theme word or intention that could guide your journey throughout the year.  I did this last year, but to be perfectly honest, although it resonated with me for the first month or two, it lost its appeal throughout the rest of the year.  Much the same way resolutions do for many people.  It's definitely necessary to re-evaluate goals on a...

From my heart: Building Deeper Connections

Sometimes I struggle with how to say what I really want to say.   Although I think I do fine with grammar (my home school mom taught me well), when I have something to say, it often doesn't come out quite the way I expected it to (oops, my mom wouldn’t like this sentence ending in a preposition, though…haha.  Oh well, plenty more of these below too.).  Does this happen to you too?  Sometimes, I hear or read what someone else says on the very same topic and feel they have said it more eloquently or in a more impactful way.  And then I remember, I need to just stop comparing, and accept ME for ME!   So, I may not always speak gracefully, but you can trust that I’m always...

An Alternative to Traditional New Year’s Resolutions

If you're starting off the New Year with a bunch of resolutions and a boot camp-style mission to "get back on track," "get healthy," "get in shape," or reach any other type of goal, health-related or not, I want to ask you to hit the pause button for a minute.   Breathe in; breathe out.   No, seriously!  Breathe with me for a minute.   Okay, now let's chat...

Holiday Gifts – Day 8

Over the past several days I have shared with you some healthy living gift ideas for the holidays!  Today I have some final ideas for you!   I’ll try to keep the post brief because we all need more simplicity at this time of year, so if you have additional questions, be sure to ask.  I’m happy to answer!   This may be my last post in this GIFT GUIDE, but it is NOT THE LEAST!  In fact, this is my FAVORITE idea!  In a world where we place so much emphasis on consumerism, I have become more and more attracted to the idea of giving EXPERIENCES as gifts!  My health challenges led me on a necessary path to minimalism and I don't hate it!  Haha!  It's become somewhat freeing to release...

Holiday Gifts – Day 6

Over the next couple days I’m going to share with you some healthy living gift ideas for the holidays!  I’ll try to keep the posts brief because we all need more simplicity at this time of year, so if you have additional questions, be sure to ask.  I’m happy to answer! I'm highlighting gifts from another company I love: US Wellness Meats.  There's a reason they are on the TWD Things I Love page.  US Wellness Meats is owned and run by family farmers in the Midwest who raise their animals on pasture, using rotational grazing practices which are great the earth, good for the animals, and healthy for us!...

Holiday Gifts – Day 5

Over the next couple days I’m going to share with you some healthy living gift ideas for the holidays!  I’ll try to keep the posts brief because we all need more simplicity at this time of year, so if you have additional questions, be sure to ask.  I’m happy to answer! As if I would really need to tell you why today's gift idea is a great one (for almost everyone) because it's CHOCOLATE!!  And of course I'm suggesting you get it from one of my most favorite companies: Thrive Market!  I've talked about them SEVERAL times on the blog already: TWD Things I Love, My favorite online health food store, and in the Subscriber Exclusive TWD's Favorites #3 post (password protected for my subscribers).  Go check those out (particularly this...

Holiday Gifts – Day 4

Over the next couple days I’m going to share with you some healthy living gift ideas for the holidays!    I’ll try to keep the posts brief because we all need more simplicity at this time of year, so if you have additional questions, be sure to ask.  I’m happy to answer!   Today's GIFT IDEA doesn't require much information because I already spoke the praises of this item a couple months ago: Kasandrinos Olive Oil.  I've also shared my love for this company on my TWD Things I Love page.  What a great gift a bottle of Kasandrinos Olive Oil would be to bring to your dinner hosts and hostesses as well!   And if you want to put together a nice gift basket check out the delicious spice blends sold along with the olive oil...

Holiday Gifts – Day 3

Over the next several days I’m going to share with you some healthy living gift ideas for the holidays!  I’ll try to keep the posts brief because we all need more simplicity at this time of year, so if you have additional questions, be sure to ask.  I’m happy to answer! If you've checked out the TWD Things I Love Page, then you know that I love Vital Proteins!   They are a company specializing (primarily) in high quality and sustainably sourced collagen food-based supplements.  Why do I love them?  Their products are high-quality and sustainably sourced.  And the reason I'm so into collagen is that it is an essential building block for our hair, skin, nails, bones, and joints, and our modern diets, even when chosen healthfully, have minimal amounts of...
